I apologize in advance for the lack of inclusion of a "Ticky box!" option. Please attempt to carry on in spite of this glaring oversight.

I grew up with "Jinx, you owe me a Coke," but I've also encountered an adult version which is simply, "Beer!" (no jinx). An alternate of that is "two beers! three beers!" and so forth until the other person touches you back.

It was specified as "A coke," but any carbonated beverage would do.

With my mom, who was from Ohio, it was no talking until your name was said. With everyone else it was a Coke.

Perhaps I should also have mentioned that Mom was from a poor family, which, rather than locale, may have been the reason for the "punishment." A Coke costs money, silence does not. Still, I don't actually know whether the money or the area is the deciding factor.

I encountered two version. The first was the one I encountered with my friends, which was simply "Jinx", then you couldn't talk until someone said your name.

The second was what my dad did when he was a kid, which was "Jinx you owe me a Coke, your fault you owe me a malt, your mistake you owe me a shake".

I also had a distinction between "Jinx" (no talking until someone -- anyone -- says your name) and "Personal jinx" (no talking until I say your name).

We always used "personal jinx" which behaved as jinx above. Just plain "jinx" never got used.

i said that we would have to get our names said, but usually it means noting to me. if a soda is won, it's because you yelled "pinch poke owe me a coke!"
